As far as I can remember, this year is the 40th Anniversary for Dragon Quest, Castlevania, Metroid, Zelda, and Kid Icarus.

The 35th for Sonic, the 30th for Pokémon, and theb25th for Pikmin, Weegee's Manor, and Animal Crossing.

There are more anniversaries this year, but I forgot what else...

OH RIGHT! Metal Slug has its 30th Anniversary this year, too!

And Okami has its 20th Anniversary, so I guess more news for Okami 2 can be on the Direct.

.... Devil May Cry also has its 25th Anniversary this August, so maybe they are waiting until then to show us DMC6?

Crazy, this year is packed with Anniversaries, the more I look about the first game of each franchise that I know of.
