You might like Kings of the Wyld. It's a fantasy novel about an old Band of mercenaries teaming up again to save their leaders daughter. The book uses Rock Band terminology to describe things.

Highly recommend the book <Project Hail Mary> by Andy Weir.The protag finds himself on a spacecraft and has to figure out why he's there. Each chapter is well paced and the plot is 10/10

I recommend Bokurano. A bunch of children have to pilot a robot and each child's turn ends in their death. They know it and each child has to come to terms that they're going to die each chapter.
